What We Fund and How to Apply
The Foundation makes grants to Bay Area artists and nonprofit organizations in three areas: Arts & Culture, Social Justice, and Education.
Detailed information about our grant programs is below. Our Small Arts Grants and Special Arts Grants programs are open to applicants that meet the listed eligibility criteria. Eureka Fellows must be nominated by a Bay Area nonprofit arts organization in cooperation with the Foundation. Our other grant programs are not open to unsolicited proposals. All potential applicants should carefully review the guidelines and application procedures in the program description links below. Applicants and grantees may then return to our grants portal here.

Arts & Culture
Small Arts Grants Program supports arts and culture nonprofit organizations with annual budgets between $100,000 and $749,999 in San Francisco, Alameda, and Contra Costa counties; fiscally sponsored arts and culture organizations in these counties with budgets under $750,000; and film projects directed by filmmakers residing in these counties with budgets under $750,000.

Special Arts Grants Program supports anchoring arts and culture nonprofit organizations with annual budgets between $750,000 and $2 million that produce and present new work and that also operate performance venues or exhibition spaces in San Francisco, Alameda, and Contra Costa counties.

Eureka Fellowship Program offers unrestricted support for visual artists in the San Francisco Bay Area. Nominations are invited every three years. The next cycle begins summer 2025.

Christine Elbel Linchpin Grants support Bay Area arts services organizations. This grant program is not open to unsolicited applications.

Social Justice
Social Justice Grants Program currently supports Bay Area organizations providing services to LGBTQ+ youth. This grant program is not accepting unsolicited proposals at this time.

Education
Education Grants Program supports Bay Area organizations providing direct K-5 literacy services to students from under-resourced local public schools. This grant program is not accepting new proposals.
